Attracting students and researchers to the EU

DSC09539

Cecilia Wikström has been appointed the rapporteur of the European Parliament for the new Commission proposal dated March 2013 on rules for students and researchers from third countries who are coming to the EU to study and work.

The EU needs to attract students and researchers who can contribute to our future. Every year this opportunity is ceased upon by around 200, 000 students and researchers, but many of them are faced with bureaucratic difficulties that are hard to pass, and procedures can vary between Member States.

Cecilia Wikström wants to contribute to make it more attractive and accessible for those people to study and work within the EU and also to move from one MemberState to another. She also wants to allow students to stay and apply for jobs after they have finished their studies.
