| A delegation of Members from the Petitions Committee visited London 5-6 November to meet UK representatives of social services, NGOs, journalists and lawyers to discuss petitions against allegedly abusive decisions by the UK authorities on adoption as well as the placing of children in foster care without the consent of biological parents.
”The delegation has heard a broad range of voices on these very sensitive issues.” said Cecilia Wikström MEP, the chair of the Committee on Petitions. ”Following this productive visit, I am confident we will now be able to produce a valuable and balanced working document.”
Next steps:
On 12 November the Committee on Petitions will hold a preliminary debate of the fact- finding delegation to London during which Members of the Committee will get preliminary overview of the visit.
